Description: Bear Mountain Bridge is not a railroad bridge, it is a railfan Location.;  Bear Mountain State Park is
located on the Hudson river in New York, about 45 miles north of New York City.  The Metro North Hudson Line
lies on the east side of the river. It is a high speed line and also carries Amtrak’s Empire Service between Albany and
Penn Station as well as limited CXS CP freight operations. Busy CSX tracks lie on the west side of the river and can
be seen on the Doodletown Trestle.  MN tracks carry about 75 trains a day, and CSX Tracks see about 25 trains a
day. Both lines can be viewed from pedestrian walkways on either side of the Bear Mountain Bridge.

Addendum: Another access point nearby (just to the north) is Popolopen Creek pedestrian bridge,
N 41.32289, W 73.98895 with a view of another CSX trestle.
Addendum: Another access point nearby (just to the north) is Mine Dock Park in Fort Montgomery,
N 41.32740, W 73.98449 But some railfans have reported that the Police Dept in Fort Montgomery is NOT railfan
friendly. They don't ask you to leave during daylight but they are extremely rude to railfans and leary of photographers.

Approximate # trains per 24 hours:  22 CSX;  120+ Metro North
