Description: This railfan area through the Wasatch Range actually includes Weber Canyon from just east of Ogden UT
following I-84 east to Echo UT and then following I-80 through Echo Canyon east to Evanston, WY.  This is a total
distance of about 75 miles.  The UP is double tracked through great scenic red rock formations on the north side of
the tracks. A westbound drive along I-80 and I-84 provides places to pull off briefly for many great photo
opportunities. A return trip starting in Henefer, UT (N 41.01648, W 111.48835) along old US-30 south to Echo and
then east on Echo Canyon Road provides opportunities for more leisurely railfanning.

Approximate # of trains in 24 hours: 30+ (According to TRAINS Magazine, trains tend to run fleeted with 5-6
trains in rapid succession, followed by longer periods of inactivity.)

Nearby RR stuff:  The Utah State Railroad Museum located in the former Ogden Union Station
(N 41.22110, W111.97972 ) in Ogden at 2501 Wall Ave. has preserved steam and diesel locomotives and other
artifacts.  The Station also houses a firearms museum, a classic car museum, and a restaurant.

Other nearby stuff: Wildlife watching in the area almost rivals train watching with elk mule deer, fox, and occasional
moose.

Gregarious Quotient: Low
